- What is a professional sports analyst (tipster)?
- The term “professional” means that they make their living from this activity. It means that they have proved that they have a real edge over the bookmaker, by betting well enough themselves to live off their winnings. They have also proven in the past to be able to handle the pressure of losing periods, when selling their own advice or picks and when some customers start to be worried. They have to stay focused, and not alter their initial way of choosing picks. They have reached a point where the amount of money they earn allows them to face some bad weeks in betting, since they respect the golden rules of betting strictly. These rules involve good money management, sticking to the same principles of evaluating games, factoring news of injury into their estimations of fair prices and maintaining a consistent approach.
- How do you calculate the Yield, ROI, Hit Rate and Profit of an analyst?
- YIELD: Ratio between your profit during a given period & total stakes during this period. This is the measurement of your performance per bet – the best measurement available.
ROI: ROI is the return on investment, it is the ratio between your profit during a given period and your initial bank. We chose a flat stake of 5% of the initial bank and an initial bank of € 2 000, therefore our average stake is € 100.
HIT RATE: % of winning picks VS total number of picks. See: http://www.betadvisor.com/help/hitrate.html
N° OF PICKS: The total number of picks provided.
PROFITS: This is the total profit from advised prices and advised stakes. Profit = final bank - initial bank.
NO BET UNDER: Refers to the minimum price acceptable for any customer to take your bet.
AVERAGE ODDS: See: http://www.betadvisor.com/help/hitrate.html - What is the BetAdvisor analysts’ ranking based on?
- By default, we rank our analysts with respect to their rating. But you can also choose to compare analysts using other indicators such as Yield, Hit Rate, N° of Picks, or Average Odds.
RATING: The rating is the Yield multiplied by the number of picks.
It allows you to compare tipsters in terms of profit.
For example, a tipster with a high yield but few picks could have a lower rating than a tipster with lower yield but more picks.
YIELD: Ratio between your profit during a given period & total stakes during this period. This is the measurement of your performance per bet – the best measurement available. - Do you recommend certain analysts over others?
- No, we believe in the clients ability to choose their own tipsters. Just choose them according to your own preferences and criteria.
All of the different types of statistics are available on our website and you can easily compare all of the tipsters.
See: http://www.betadvisor.com/tipsters/
- How do I use the "No Bet Under" information displayed on my picks?
- This refers to the minimum price acceptable for any customer to take your bet. The difference between your Odds and the No Bet Under figure should not exceed 0.1, so if your bet is 1.84, the No Bet Under figure should not be lower than 1.74.
- Which bookmakers should I use?
- The list of bookmakers displayed on our site contains the best and most popular bookmakers to use to place bets on our advised picks.
These bookmakers offer the right mix of available liquidity and total bets on offer daily for the sports that we cover. Our list of bookmakers: 5DIMES, BET365, BETFAIR, MATCHBOOK, LADBROKES, PINNACLE, SBOBET, 12BET, PADDY POWER, VICTOR CHANDLER, WILLIAMHILL. - What is an Asian Handicap?
- The Asian Handicap is a type of bet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_handicap). Most professional punters prefer Asian Handicap bets when it comes to betting on football. The great thing about Asian Handicaps is that the possibility of a draw is ruled out. By eliminating the draw outcome, Asian Handicap betting reduces the possible outcomes from three (in traditional 1X2 wagering) to two. Usually, the handicap is calculated to give each team a 50-50 chance of winning. Since the Asian Handicap also helps bookmakers to minimize risk, it is possible for them to place bigger bets. Not to mention the fact that the odds are normally better than on the traditional 1X2 market. Betting on the Asian Handicap market is the way to go.

- Why can't I log in to BetAdvisor.com?
- Here are the 4 most common reasons for login problems, with solutions:
1. Password is case-sensitive. Make sure that you do not have the ‘caps lock’ key on, and that you are typing the password exactly as issued.
2. Stray spaces. Make sure that you have not typed or pasted any spaces before or after the username and password.
3. Windows automatically inserts password. When you enter your username in the login screen, Windows will often automatically put the saved password into the password box. Make sure you do not type it in again. If the password has changed, make sure you delete the old version inserted by Windows before entering the new one.
4. Forgotten or using incorrect username / password. If you are having problems logging in, there is a simple process to remind you of your login details and, if necessary, to replace your password:
1) Open up the webpage www.betadvisor.com
2) At the top of the page where you would enter your username and password, “Forgot Password?” link. Click on this.
3) You will be prompted to enter your email address.
4) If we cannot find an existing account with that email address, you will be prompted to provide the registered one. Otherwise, an automated email will be issued immediately from Betadvisor, containing your username and also a link to request a new password in case you cannot remember the current one.
5) When you have received the email with the new password, you have to click the activation link – this will take you to the website. Choose a new password, and log in with your new details.
By following these steps you should now be able to log in. If you are still experiencing problems logging in after following these steps, please send an email along with the error message to support@betadvisor.com. - I have not been receiving email or SMS alerts.
- Please ensure that you have the right configuration on the “My Subscription” page. Since our emails may be detected as spam, please also check your spam box. If you still have problems receiving our emails, please send us an email at support@betadvisor.com.
Note that tips are sent via Mobile SMS Text Alert to all customers (except those residing in the USA and Canada). - I have lost my password.
- Please click on the “Forgot Password?” link on the top right-hand corner of the home page. You will then be asked to fill in the email address to which we can send you the activation link for resetting your password. Please read the WHY I CAN'T LOG IN TO BETADVISOR.COM? question for more details.
- I want to change my email address (login).
- Modifying your email address is not allowed. Please contact support@betadvisor.com if you encounter problems or if you have lost your login/email address.
- I purchased a pick today, but I can't view my pick.
- Every pick you have purchased is available in the “My Picks” section. Your pick may be on the “Today’s Picks” page if the pick is active (i.e. if the match is not finished yet), or the pick may be on the “Latest Picks” page if the event in question is over and we have already qualified it as a losing or winning pick.
- Are picks on Betadvisor proofed by third parties?
- All horse racing selections posted online at BetAdvisor have been proofed and certified by RacingProofing.com (since June 12th 2010). We are currently without a proofing company for other sports but will work with our clients to ensure the accuracy of our records. Picks posted during a tipsters trial have been verified in house before the tipster was promoted. Modifying picks during or after the match is not permitted. All picks are published at least 1 hour before the match begins.
